To further enhance the fire safety awareness of teachers and students and improve their emergency self-rescue capabilities, at 12:30 on May 7th, the College of Food Science and Engineering, in collaboration with the Party Committee's Safety Work Department (Security Department), organized a spring fire drill. This event included three sections: a fire safety lecture, an emergency evacuation drill and practical operation of fire extinguishing equipment. Teachers and students from the college actively participated, and the atmosphere on the spot was very lively.
Theory comes first, and awareness is strengthened
At the beginning of the event, Teacher Wang Yue from the School Security Department gave a vivid and practical lecture on fire safety knowledge to the students in the lecture hall of Yifu Building. Teacher Wang, drawing on fire cases in colleges and universities, elaborated in a simple and understandable way on fire prevention, escape skills and initial fire suppression methods. He also emphasized the electrical safety regulations in laboratories, dormitories and other places, enabling the students to have a deeper understanding of fire safety.
Real combat simulation, orderly evacuation
After the lecture, the students quickly gathered at the entrance on the first floor of Yifu Building. With the order given, simulated smoke rose and the evacuation drill officially began. Teachers and students bent down, covered their mouths and noses, and evacuated quickly and orderly along the pre-determined routes to the safe area outside the building. The entire process took less than five minutes, demonstrating their efficient emergency response capabilities.
Skill enhancement, preventing problems before they occur
After the evacuation drill was completed, the teachers and students went to the small garden opposite the Biology College in Building 2 for practical training on fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. The staff of the security department demonstrated on the spot the usage steps of dry powder fire extinguishers, namely "lifting, pulling, holding and pressing", and guided the teachers and students to take turns to operate and experience them. Through 30 minutes of practical drills, everyone mastered the correct usage methods of fire-fighting equipment, truly achieving a leap from "knowing" to "doing".
This fire drill, in the form of "theory + practice", effectively enhanced the fire safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of teachers and students. The College of Food Science and Engineering will continue to strengthen the campus safety defense line and create a peaceful and harmonious learning and living environment for teachers and students.
Campus safety is no small matter. Preventing problems before they develop depends on all of us!
