College of Food Science and Engineering Holds Talks with Huachi County, Gansu Province

On January 6th, Zhai Yuzhe, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China of Huachui County and the Deputy County Government Official, led a delegation from Huachui County to visit the College of Food Science and Engineering for a discussion and exchange on the science assistance project. Zhang Futo, the Director of the Science Bureau of Huachui County, Zhang Huailong, the Deputy Director of the County Government Office of Huachui County, Ji Wenliang, the Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Huachui County, and Li Hairui, an employee of the Science Bureau of Huachui County, all attended the meeting. The Party Secretary of the College of Food Science and Engineering of our university, Du Xingjun, the Deputy Director of the School's Technology Transfer Center, Wu Tao, Professor Liu Xia of the College of Food Science and Engineering, and Professor Wang Wenhang also participated in the discussion.
At the symposium, Deputy Director Zhang Huailong introduced the current industrial situation of Huacheng County, stating that the local area is rich in resources such as coarse grains (rye, white sesame seeds, etc.), sea buckthorn, and edible fungi, but there are problems such as lagging preservation technology, incomplete processing chain, and the situation where farmers' beef and mutton production does not lead to income increase. Based on these issues, representatives from our university's Food Science College proposed a targeted assistance plan called "Extended + Demonstration Effect"： First， technical research and development， providing technical support for the preservation of edible fungi or figs， sea buckthorn functional beverages， and various extended products； Second， project planning， planning to implement nearly 20 projects in 2026， focusing on the deep processing of coarse grains， the development of sea buckthorn products， etc.， introducing small beverage production lines and establishing a pilot base； Third， talent cultivation， establishing a "Science and Technology Commissioner" workstation， with experts from the college dispatched to provide guidance and assistance.
At the end of the meeting, both parties reached a consensus on "advanced demonstration projects" such as building a model line for processing of sea buckthorn products and a specialized base for processing coarse grains. The college will assist Huachiping County in promoting technical training and brand collaboration, and will continue to give priority to supporting projects that can be quickly implemented and generate demonstration effects. Through joint application of the university and enterprises for research topics, resource connections will be achieved. The demonstration projects will lead rural revitalization and help Huachiping County shift from resource output to brand output, achieving a win-win situation of "increased production and income" and "brand value increase".
The delegation from Huachiping County also visited the exhibition hall of the National Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety, the Engineering Technology Center, and the Analysis and Detection Center of our university, and learned in detail about the implementation effects of the technologies and the core technologies such as "sterile filling" and "intelligent detection" integrated in the liquid beverage production line.
