In 11^th of January 2018, the construction launch meeting of the State Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety was held in Yifu Building, the main campus of Binhai New Area. Fan Yingzi, Deputy Inspector of the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, Han Jinyu, Deputy Secretary of the party committee of the school, and Vice President Lu Fuping attended the launch meeting. Jin Shuanglong, Director, Basic Research Division, Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, Zuo Wei, Researcher, Science and Technology Department, Tianjin Education Commission, Wan Weidong, Deputy Director, Science and Technology Cooperation Department, Science and Technology Commission, Binhai New Area, Ding Ruiqing, Engineer, Basic Research Division, Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, the leaders of relevant departments in Tianjin University of Science and Technology, and representatives from teachers and students in key laboratories attended the meeting. Lu Fuping presided over the launch meeting.

Han Jinyu, on behalf of the university, submitted a warm welcome to the leaders and teachers who came to the university to attend the meeting. On behalf of the school, he sincerely appreciated the supports and assistances offered by the Tianjin Municipal Government, the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, the Tianjin Education Commission, the Binhai New Area Science and Technology Commission, and other relevant departments.

Han Jinyu emphasized that the approval of the National Key Laboratory was the perpetual pursuance of the TUST, and its approval was an important breakthrough in the construction of the university’s national scientific research platform. It will play an important role in promoting the “Double Tops”construction of the university. He pointed out that the approval of the State Key Laboratory was a new starting for the construction of the laboratory of our university. The university will continue to regard the construction of key laboratories as the top priority of the university’s work. In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, the “open, flow, united, and competitive” operating mechanism will be implemented, continue the high standard construction goals, focusing on the states and regional key strategies to serve the requirements of the economic development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and took the power of the whole university to establish key laboratories which will become “an academic centers for scientific and technological cooperation and communication, an important platform to gather first-rate scholars and training innovative talents, and an innovative research base with important influence".

Fan Yingzi also addressed in the launch meeting. She emphasized that the construction of the State Key Laboratory in the province is an important measure for the state to improve regional independent innovation ability and promote the construction of regional scientific and technological innovation system. It is an important part of the national independent innovation system. For a long time, the Municipal Science and Technology Commission has taken the construction of scientific and technological research and development platform as an important fulcrum in improving the innovation system of regional science and technology, improving the ability of independent innovation, supporting the development of the economy, and building the "cattle nose" project of scientific and technological imprint. The State Key Laboratory of food nutrition and safety in Tianjin and Tianjin University of Science and Technology is a major, important, and happy event for the development of scientific and technological innovation system and research and development platform in Tianjin.

For the construction of State Key Laboratory, Fan Yingzi proposed three recommendations: 1. University should cherish the "State-level" signs, as a breakthrough point, through scientific management and standardize operation to drive the development of teaching and scientific research in the whole university. 2. Concentration of power and highlight the construction of talents. University should focus on a global perspective, gather a number of high-level talents and teams, and build the laboratory into a field of Talent Gathering in the field of food science and technology innovation, a place of talent and a place for talent. 3. To gather resources and promote industrial development. The laboratory construction should coordinate actively, effectively gather all kinds of innovative resources such as colleges and universities, industrial enterprises and so on. Realization of open sharing, collaborative innovation, set up a first-class academic committee, form the international first-class level of basic research ability of food nutrition and safety, and become an important source of scientific and technical projects and technological achievements.

Fan Yingzi emphasised that the Municipal Science and Technology Commission will resolutely implement the deployment of the Ministry of science and technology, the municipal Party committee and the municipal government. Strengthening the work guidance and monitoring service to the construction and operation of the laboratory in accordance with the requirements of the general secretary Xi Jinping "grasping the strategy, grasping the policy, and grasping the service". Under the strong support of the Ministry of science and technology, the municipal Party committee and the municipal government, the laboratory should be guided by the nineteen spirit, plan with the high starting point, construct with the high standard, dare to innovate, obtain more achievements, train more talents, and make more contributions, and make an efforts to become an important base for high level of scientific research talents and academic communications in    the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region and even the national organization.
