2018 International Symposium on Food Nutrition and Safety Symposium holds

     In April 20th to 21st, the 2018 International Symposium on Food Nutrition and Safety conference was held in Tianjin Xinmao Tiancai Hotel. The conference was organized by the Advisory Committee on Nutrition Guidance of China National Food Industry Association (ACNBMFN), and co-organized by the College of Food Engineering and Biotechnology and the State Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety. There were more than 300 professors attending the conference, including the foreign professors from the Clemson University, Central Queensland University, Moscow State University of Technologies and Management and Inter-University Center of World Trade Organization Research and Training Programs at Russian Federation, domestic professors from Beijing Technology and Business University, Jiangnan University, Shandong Agricultural University, Huazhong Agricultural University, Anhui Agricultural University and other experts from the well-known food enterprises. Some of them gave wonderful speeches.

    At the opening ceremony in the morning of April 20th, the executive vice president and secretary general of ACNBMFN, MS. He Du, and Jinyu Han, deputy secretary of the party committee and president of our school delivered welcome addresses in order. President Han gave a brief introduction of the teaching and research status of our school and hoped experts and scholars keep supporting the development of food nutrition and safety education and scientific research.

The opening ceremony presenter was Min Zhang, deputy secretary of the party committee and dean of College of Food Engineering and Biotechnology.

Professor Baoguo Sun, Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Beijing Technology and Business University made a special report on the "ten years of Chinese food safety-promotion and challenge" at the conference. Academician Sun combed the status of food safety in recent years, summed up the efforts and achievements of the state in food safety education, scientific research, system and legislation and gave a prospect on the development of this field. Subsequently, Yongquan Chen professor and the dean of Jiangnan University, Pro. Padraig Strappe from Central Queensland University, Pro. Feng Chen from Clemson University and Pro. Zhongkai Zhou of our college gave presentations on the influence of dietary lipid on tumor, cell culture models for bioactivity discovery in natural products, the detection plasticizer in liquor and the functional differences and regulation of resistant starch, respectively. Later, the conference carried out on four chapters, including "Food Safety Symposium", "Food Nutrition Symposium", "New Technology" and "Functional Food". All the presentations of four chapters won the applause of more than 400 colleagues and triggered a heated discussion.

In the 21st afternoon, more than 100 colleagues visited our State Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety and the Impression Hall of Master Kong Beverage. The advanced scientific research conditions, abundant accomplishment and mature laboratory management system of State Key Laboratory were widely praised by the experts. The workshop and automatic production process of Master Kong Beverage impressed the visitors.

    This symposium has greatly promoted the academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of food nutrition and safety, expanded the influence our College of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, especially the research field of food nutrition and safety in nationwide, and also played an important role on promoting this subject development.
