CFEB launches China Engineering Education Certification in 2019

Food Science and Engineering major of Tianjin University of Science and Technology has been certified by China Engineering Education Accreditation Association three times in 2009, 2012 and 2015, and will welcome the fourth certification in 2019. To well prepare this certification work, the leaders of College of Food Engineering and Biotechnology started the certification work in July 2018 and the leadership team met several times to discuss the work deployment. Recently, the “Engineering Education Certification” application has been submitted to China Engineering Education Accreditation Association. It was expected that the association would announce the audit results at the end of November.
On November 13, 2018, the college held a joint meeting of party and government committee to discuss the writing of self-assessment report and arranged the writing work. The party secretary and dean of college were responsible for the whole work. The executive leaders and backbone teachers formed a working team. This meeting drew up a work plan for the certification. In the near future, the faculty meeting would be held to announce the Engineering Education Certification to improve the teachers’ awareness of the importance of certification. All the teachers will be organized to discuss and study the latest certification standards, to write the self-assessment reports, to collect and sort out the supporting materials of the self-assessment report, and finally to rectify the problems found in the self-assessment work.
Under the background of in-depth study of the spirit of the National Education Conference, the implementation of engineering education certification will contribute to promoting the reform of the college personnel training model, accelerating the connotation construction and feature development, strengthening the quality assurance system and improving students' engineering capabilities. All this could promote all-round development of college and improve the level of education and teaching.
