Biography

Dr. Fang Wang is an associate professor of the college of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, Tianjin University of Science and Technology. Dr. Wang completed bachelor degree from Qufu Normal University and master degree from Shandong Normal University at 1999 and 2003, respectively.  Dr. Wang received his doctoral degree from Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences at 2008. On the completion of his Ph.D, Dr. Wang joined Tianjin University of Science and Technology for the following years as lecture and associate professor, respectively. Dr. Wang worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Tianjin Economic& Development Area during 2010 to 2013, and as a visiting scholar at Charles Sturt University during November 2013 to February 2014. She hosted or participated in a number of national provincial and ministerial scientific research projects and published over 30 scientific papers.

Research Interests

Wang Fang has been engaged in scientific research on special rice screening, functional component analysis and molecular mechanism research and gene cloning for many years. A breakthrough has been made in the selection of functional rice varieties and gene cloning and expression analysis of rice. Currently, one main line of two-line male sterile lines with high stigma exsertion rate has been cultivated, and relevant gene mapping has been carried out. One restorer line of high protein, two varieties with high embryo rate and eight varieties of colored rice rich in polyphenols were screened. The functional components were analyzed, the function was verified by cell system, and the molecular mechanism was further researched.
